Saw Operator

Summary/ Objective

Employee is responsible for assisting in a variety of production activities including operating a saw to provide necessary help to keep shop running efficiently and effectively.

Essential Functions:

  • Handling heavy machinery, maintaining records, maintaining equipment, following production schedules, ensuring the final products meet the industry’s quality standards, handling recurring production and assembly problems; replacing defective parts with new parts, maintaining plant equipment and ensuring proper maintenance.
  • Work with hand tools (automatic saw, sanders, grinders, drills, etc.).
  • Operate automatic saw, follow work order guidelines.
  • Locate and stage materials.
  • Read tape measures, quality instruments, calipers, height gauges, angle finders, etc.
  • Identify and document non-conforming product.
  • Operate Fork truck.
  • Need to be able to lift 50 pounds repetitively.
  • Responsible for the quality of the metal being cut.
  • Responsible for the housekeeping of the saw area.
  • Paperwork processing: work orders, timecards.
  • Identify and document non-conforming product.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, you are regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.  You must frequently lift and or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work

 This is a full-time position that will require some overtime. Days of work are Monday through Friday.  Saturday and Sundays may be required.

 Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Several years’ experience in the manufacturing environment.
  • Some computer knowledge.
