Laser Operator

Summary/Objective

The laser machine operator position safely performs laser cutting for a variety of organizational manufacturing needs. This position is responsible for the daily setup and operation of one or more CNC laser cutting machines.  You will also assist others with any of their daily duties including area housekeeping, maintenance work, and material staging.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform daily machine startup
  • Setup and operate multiple CNC Mitsubishi laser systems.
  • Load and Unload machines.
  • Verifying proper parts to given specifications and measuring completed product to ensure the accuracy of the part.
  • Maintain daily dust collector service and associated logbook in assigned area.
  • Report equipment deficiencies.
  • Ensure production schedule follow through as allocated by the scheduling leader.
  • Assist in loading and unloading team members’ machines when production requires additional manpower to maintain throughput.
  • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of cutting equipment and work area in accordance with company standards and manufacturer's machine recommendations.
  • Perform some machine alignment procedures and optic cleaning to keep equipment at peak operating performance.
  • Facilitate work-order paper flow in accordance with ISO quality standards.
  • Monitoring assist and resonator gas levels and recommend supply requirements for daily production.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position that will require some overtime. Days of work are Monday through Friday. Saturdays and Sundays maybe required.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years’ experience operating CO2 laser and or CNC plasma machines
  • Firm knowledge of CNC control terminals and measuring equipment
